Shutters that let in the light and keep out the eyes of passersby
I photographed these shutters during my recent journey to New Orleans.
Historically, shutters were used both for protection / security as well as function ie. light. Note how in historic houses we see the shutters performing both duties with the upper portion allowing in the morning light while the lower portion provides security.
I like how historical solutions are both practical and beautiful. http://brenthullcompanies.com/historic-preservation.html
