Three Tricky Spots for Installing Insulation
1. Electrical boxes are a great concern because it's difficult to install insulation behind them. To avoid compressing the insulation behind the box, cut out a box-sized cavity. The wires are an obstruction in the stud cavity, so split the batts to fit both behind and in front of the wires.
2. Plumbing can be a difficult area to insulate correctly. Make sure, particularly in cold climates, that the insulation goes on the exterior surface of the wall—between the pipe and the exterior surface.
3. Bathroom walls need to be insulated prior to the installation of the tub or shower. This is one of the items on the Energy Star Thermal Bypass Checklist
